What Came Apart

This was not a swap. The engine came all the way down. Block on the floor, heads off, pistons out.

That is the only way to build an engine you can trust with boost. You look at every part and you replace what needs it.

The photos below are from this job, before the new parts went in.

What the Ticket Lists

The parts list reads like a full rebuild. Sixteen lifters. Rods. Piston rings. Valve springs. Cam bearings and crank bearings. A new oil pump.

Then the power parts. The supercharger. A 102mm throttle body. A set of Hooker headers. A new ECM and wiring harness to run it all.

It also has a Felpro gasket kit at $425, fresh oil and a filter, coolant and power steering fluid. Some parts show $0 on the ticket. We list what the ticket says.

Why a Build Costs What It Costs

Most of the money is labor. Taking an engine down, cleaning it, checking it and putting it back right takes days, not hours.

A supercharger makes it worse if you cut corners. Boost finds every weak ring and every bad bearing.

So the build gets done once, and done all the way. That is cheaper than doing it twice.
