About Our San Jacinto Services

Right Next Door to Our San Jacinto Shop

Our shop is here in San Jacinto, at 1685 S State St, Suite D. San Jacinto and Hemet share a valley and a school district line, and a lot of families live in both. The shop is minutes from any address in town, so same-day service works for most calls. Engine swaps and other heavy jobs that need a lift come into the bay. Everything else we can do at your place. Mike and Robert take most of the house calls here. Both cities get the local discount on labor.

It's a different town from Hemet, though. It's older and more rural, and the houses sit farther apart. Mt San Jacinto rises right up on the east side, the Wildlife Area is to the north, and the Ramona Bowl pulls in visitors every spring. All of that changes how people here use their cars and trucks.

Diesel Truck Repair and Service in San Jacinto

Yes, we repair diesel trucks in San Jacinto. Ford Power Stroke, GM Duramax, Ram Cummins and Ram EcoDiesel trucks come into the bay at 1685 S State St, or we come to your lot or job site. The jobs we see most are injectors, turbos, glow plugs, DPF and EGR service, and DEF faults. For a work truck or a small fleet, we set up a maintenance plan and keep the service records on file, so the truck spends its time on the road and not in the bay.

Work Trucks and Older Vehicles

Lots of households here still keep a work truck. Pickups, dump trucks and farm utility rigs are everywhere, and plenty of them are old enough to need real work. Mt San Jacinto Foothills and Suspension Wear

The east side of town runs right up into the foothills of Mt San Jacinto. Those streets are steeper than the valley floor, and the grade wears brakes, suspension parts and CV joints faster. We suggest an annual suspension inspection for vehicles that drive the foothill streets daily, especially trucks and SUVs that haven't had ball joints or tie rods replaced in a long time.

If you drive the 74 east toward Idyllwild, flush the brake fluid on schedule. That climb heats up the brakes, and old fluid boils sooner than fresh fluid.

Heat, Dust, and Oil Service

Summers in the valley are hot and dusty. Oil breaks down sooner than the standard schedule says, and air filters clog before the dash reminder comes on. Our oil change service uses an oil weight that holds up in the heat, and we check the engine and cabin air filters on every visit.

San Jacinto Neighborhood by Neighborhood

San Jacinto is the younger, bigger family side of the valley. The 2020 Census counted 53,898 people, a median age of 32.4 and an average of 3.53 people per household. More kids and more drivers per home mean more cars in the driveway. Hemet shares the valley, but the two cities drive differently.

Downtown San Jacinto and Five Points

The San Jacinto Land Association laid out the modern city at Five Points in 1883. Today the Downtown Specific Plan covers about 1,158 acres around Ramona Expressway and State Street, and it aims to reuse old buildings and add medium density homes. The Estudillo Mansion Museum stands off Seventh Street, across from the old train depot site, according to the valley guide.

Older streets and older cars go together here. Expect worn suspension bushings, leaky gaskets and tired batteries. If the curb is the only parking, tell us when you call and we will find a legal spot or move the job to a driveway.

Mt. San Jacinto College and the school streets

The Mt. San Jacinto College San Jacinto Campus opened in 1965 and the valley guide says the college district was formed in 1962 by voters in Banning, Beaumont, Hemet and San Jacinto. About 9,000 students attend the city's public schools too.

Students and parents put on miles in older, budget cars. Brakes, tires and batteries are the usual needs. Campus lots belong to the college, so book a driveway or a legal street spot nearby instead of a campus lot.

Soboba and the east side

The Soboba Indian Reservation sits just east of the city. The Soboba Casino and its sports complex sit on the reservation, and Soboba Hot Springs was a vacation ground for movie stars in the 1900s.

Big casino lots mean visitors and long hours parked in the heat, so dead batteries are a common call. Those lots are private property, so call the property first. Our roadside help works best when you give us the lot, the row and a landmark.

Gilman Hot Springs and the north end

Gilman Hot Springs is a listed alias for ZIP 92583. Gilman Springs Road is on the RCTC list of road safety projects. RCTC and Caltrans finished a $138 million truck climbing lane at Gilman Springs Road and Jack Rabbit Trail on the Badlands stretch of State Route 60 in May 2022.

Drivers who head up through the Badlands each day feel long climbs that run hot and long downgrades that heat the brakes. Start with a cooling check before summer, and ask for a diagnostic scan when a warning light comes on during the climb.

The planned industrial site

A Notice of Preparation filed April 3 2024 describes the San Jacinto Commerce Center Specific Plan. It covers a 514 acre site now used for farming and proposes industrial warehouse buildings. If it is built, delivery vans and trucks will use valley roads daily.

That would mean more fleet work and more diesel trucks on valley roads. We already do diesel repair at the shop and service trucks come to a yard when the fleet cannot stop work.

Roads that wear cars out around San Jacinto

The valley floor averages about 1,500 feet in elevation, and every way out of it climbs.

Highway 79 north to BeaumontIt runs over the Lambs Canyon hills and ends at Interstate 10 in Beaumont. The grades are hard on brakes and tires.
Ramona Expressway and Esplanade AvenueThe planned San Jacinto Valley Expressway lists access points at Esplanade Avenue and Warren Road, Cottonwood Avenue, Sanderson Avenue and Ramona Expressway. Stop and go on these roads wears pads.
Gilman Springs Road and SR 60It is the long road toward Moreno Valley. Transmissions and cooling systems work the hardest on the climbs.

Working on a car at home in San Jacinto, and smog rules

San Jacinto's nuisance code lists boats, trailers, vehicles and vehicle parts left in a state of partial repair for an unreasonable time in front yards, side yards or driveways where a street can see them. It also lists dismantled automobiles in residential districts and vehicles parked on a surface that is not a driveway or approved parking area. A repair that wraps up quickly is less likely to be a problem than a car left in pieces.

Buying a used car? The Bureau of Automotive Repair says a private seller's car must have passed a Smog Check within the last 90 days. A pre purchase check before you pay can catch what the smog test will not.

Most likely a tired water pump, a thermostat stuck partly closed or a clogged radiator. Foothill driving shows a weak cooling system faster than valley driving, because the engine works harder. We can pressure test the system at your home and find the cause.

Where do big jobs like engine swaps get done?

At the San Jacinto shop. Engine swaps, transmission rebuilds and other major jobs need a lift, so they come into the bay. We will tell you up front whether the shop or a mobile visit makes more sense.

Do you also serve Hemet and Menifee?

Yes. Hemet is right next door in the same valley, and Menifee is about 20 minutes south on Highway 79. Both are part of our regular service area.
