Mike makes the trip out to Blythe so you don't have to leave town for quality repairs. Cooling systems, electrical work, tune-ups — he's got you covered.
Blythe is an extended service area. We come out for bigger jobs — call ahead and we'll work out timing.
Radiator repairs, thermostat replacements, water pumps, and coolant flushes — critical in Blythe's desert heat.
Battery testing, alternator replacement, starter repair, and full electrical system diagnostics.
Spark plugs, ignition coils, air filters, and fuel system cleaning to keep your engine running smooth.
Complete brake system service including pads, rotors, calipers, and brake line inspection.
Blythe sits right on the Colorado River, on the California-Arizona border. It's about 90 miles from Indio and about 150 miles from Phoenix in the other direction. Out here, your car is the only thing between you and a long, hot wait. There aren't many shops, and the ones that are here can be booked solid for weeks during snowbird season. That's where we come in.
We send Mike out to Blythe on a planned route. Because the drive is long, we focus on bigger jobs — the kind that justify the trip and save you a tow into Indio or Yuma. Think head gaskets, transmission rebuilds, full cooling system overhauls, alternator and starter replacements, and major electrical diagnostics.
Blythe regularly hits 115 to 120 degrees in summer. That kind of heat does three things to a vehicle:
It kills batteries. A car battery rated for five years in San Diego often dies in two to three years in Blythe. The heat boils off electrolyte and breaks down the lead plates inside. If your battery is over two summers old, get it tested before it leaves you stranded.
It cracks rubber. Belts, hoses, vacuum lines, and CV boots dry out and crack in the sun. A serpentine belt that snaps on a 118-degree day can leave you stuck on I-10 with no power steering and no charging system.
It thins your oil. In Blythe heat, even synthetic oil works at the edge of its rating. Skipping or stretching oil changes here is one of the fastest ways to ruin a high-mileage engine.
A lot of Blythe vehicles only run part of the year. RVs sit in storage for six to eight months. Boats and tow vehicles get pulled out of the garage in March. If you're a seasonal resident, the smartest move is to schedule a "wake-up service" before you drive your vehicle hard again — fresh battery, fresh oil, brake check, tire pressure, and a coolant inspection. Mike does this all in one visit.
Because Blythe is a long drive, Mike loads the van heavy. He brings parts for engine repair, cooling system service, brakes, electrical, and transmission jobs, plus full diagnostic gear. If we know your car's make and model in advance, we can pre-order what's needed and bring it on the trip.
Drivers traveling through Blythe to Lake Havasu can also schedule a stop on Mike's route. Just let us know when you'll be passing through.
Blythe is about 130 miles from our shop in Hemet — roughly two hours and twenty minutes each way on I-10. That's why Blythe is a "call to confirm" service area. We schedule trips out there in advance and try to combine multiple appointments on the same trip.
For bigger jobs (anything over a few hours of labor), travel is built into the quote at no extra line-item charge. For small jobs like a single oil change or a battery swap, the trip alone wouldn't make sense for either of us — in those cases, we'll either combine with another Blythe customer or recommend a local option.
For non-emergency work, 5 to 10 days ahead is ideal. That gives us time to order parts and route Mike out to Blythe with everything he needs. For emergencies, call us anyway — we'll do what we can.
Quartzsite is about 20 minutes east of Blythe across the Arizona line. We can serve it on the same trip if you're booked along with a Blythe customer. Just mention it when you call.
Almost always, yes. The usual culprit is a dead battery, fuel that's gone bad, or seized brakes. Mike can diagnose and fix all three on-site. If the engine itself has issues from sitting too long, we'll quote you before doing extra work.
Honestly, usually no. The 2.5-hour drive each way means same-day Blythe service is rare. For breakdowns, we recommend calling a local tow first to get the car somewhere safe and shaded, then calling us to schedule the repair.
