When a Car Won't Start, Here's How We Diagnose It in Riverside County
A car that won't crank or won't start can have a dead battery, a failed fuel pump, a bad ignition switch or plenty else. We don't start swapping parts. We run the same checks in the same order every time, listed below.
Our No-Start / No-Crank Diagnostic Process
- Battery & connections. We test your battery voltage, load capacity, and inspect all cable connections and grounds for corrosion or looseness.
- Starter circuit. We verify power and ground signals at the starter motor and test the starter relay and solenoid to determine if the engine is physically able to crank.
- Ignition & security system. We check the ignition switch, anti-theft system, and key/transponder communication to rule out immobilizer lockouts.
- Fuel delivery. We test fuel pressure at the rail, listen for the fuel pump prime, and inspect the fuel pump relay and fuse circuit.
- Spark & compression. If the engine cranks but won't fire, we check for spark at the plugs and verify cylinder compression to rule out internal engine failure.
- OBD-II scan & live data. We pull stored codes and review live sensor data to identify any electronic faults preventing the engine from starting.
We do all of this where the car is. That might be a driveway in Hemet, a parking lot in Murrieta or the shoulder of a road in Temecula, and you don't need a tow. Once we find the problem, we explain it and give you an estimate before any repair starts.
