Mobile Mechanic in Palm Springs
AC recharges, engine overhauls and most things in between, done in your Palm Springs driveway. Whoever on the crew is free makes the drive from San Jacinto.
Small Fixes and Big Ones
A quick AC fix or a full engine overhaul. Both can happen where your car is parked in Palm Springs.
AC Service
Recharges, compressors and condensers. The AC gets checked end to end.
Engine Overhauls
Rebuilds, head gaskets and timing work on engines that need more than a tune.
Brake Service
Pads, rotors and calipers, plus fresh brake fluid, which the heat wears out fast.
Diagnostics
We scan the car and read live data to see what's actually wrong before quoting a repair.
Where the Desert Meets Style
Palm Springs has mid-century modern houses, a lot of celebrity history, the Palm Canyon Drive scene downtown and a tramway that climbs straight up the mountain. Visitors come all year, and the people who live here full time love the place. The cars are a mix too. We work on classics and vintage cruisers, everyday drivers and rental fleets.
The city is at the north end of the valley and gets some of the hottest summers in the United States. Heat wears a car out faster than the standard maintenance schedule expects. Keeping up with it costs less than paying for the breakdown later.
Classic Cars and Vintage Service
There are a lot of classic cars in Palm Springs. The dry air is easy on bodywork, and the mid-century look of the city draws collectors. Every February, Modernism Week brings car shows and tours, and hundreds of vintage Cadillacs, T-Birds and European sports cars roll through downtown. Older cars don't get diagnosed the way new ones do. A carbureted engine with points ignition has no OBD-II port to plug into, and we work on both kinds.
Classic owners usually call us for carburetor tuning and rebuilds, ignition timing, rebuilding the original cooling system, or swapping drum brakes for something better. Desert storage causes its own problems. Seals dry out and batteries go weak. Fuel goes stale in the tank, and rodents chew on cars parked in the garage.
North Valley Heat Extreme
Few places in the country get hotter. Summer highs sit above 115 degrees for weeks, and downtown parking lot asphalt can pass 170. Engine oil thins past a safe viscosity. Transmission fluid loses its protective additives. Belts and hoses dry out, and AC seals start leaking refrigerant.
So we suggest a tighter schedule here. Get oil changes every 5,000 miles instead of 7,500 and have the AC checked every spring before the worst heat. Test the battery twice a year, and do cooling system service every 2 to 3 years. When we do brake service on north-valley cars, we flush the brake fluid more often too, because heat ages it faster.
Downtown Palm Canyon and Tramway Tourism
Downtown Palm Canyon Drive has the restaurants, shops and galleries, and the weekly VillageFest street fair brings crowds. A few miles north, the Aerial Tramway goes from the desert floor to alpine forest in 10 minutes. Both get heavy traffic in season. Rental cars from Palm Springs International Airport sometimes need work before they go back, and we fix rentals when the rental company approves it. Visitors who break down during their stay call us too.
The crew also does engine repair, transmission service, timing belt and chain jobs, electrical diagnostics, computer scans, diesel repair, suspension work and roadside assistance. We work in Cathedral City and Desert Hot Springs as well.
Common Palm Springs Questions
How far is Palm Springs from your shop?
Palm Springs is about 70 miles east of our San Jacinto shop. The drive takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes via I-10 East, so we line up Coachella Valley jobs on the same trip.
Can you work on classic and vintage cars?
Yes. We work on carbureted engines, points ignition and original brake setups, and on the problems that show up when a car has been sitting. Give us the year, make and model when you call, and we'll tell you whether the job fits a mobile visit.
My AC stopped working halfway through summer. What's the issue?
Usually it's one of three things. Low refrigerant from a slow leak is the most common, then a failing compressor or a clogged condenser. We can pressure test the system at your home and tell you which one it is. Most AC repairs can be done on-site.
My classic car has been sitting all summer. What needs checking before I drive it?
Battery health, tire condition (sidewall dry rot is the bigger issue than tread wear), brake fluid, fuel quality (stale fuel after a hot summer is real), rodent damage to wiring and fuel lines, and a full fluid level check. We offer a stored-car return inspection covering all of it.
Why does my car feel sluggish in 115-degree heat?
Hot air is less dense, which means engines produce less power on the hottest days. Modern cars compensate with computer adjustments. If your car feels noticeably worse than usual on hot days, it could mean a tired ignition system, a struggling fuel pump, or restricted air flow from a clogged filter.
Do you also serve Cathedral City and Desert Hot Springs?
Yes. Both are immediately adjacent to Palm Springs and part of our regular north-valley service area.
